The Immaculate Inception

The Immaculate Inception Originally shared by **** Trump's executive order stripped the children of immigrant mothers of their citizenship, thus disqualifying himself from being President of the United States. Trump immediately called Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh for help in voiding the executive order, but Kavanaugh was unable to take the call because he was “sleeping off a rough night,” an aide to the Justice said. #satire via gangigirl1 https://www.newyorker.com/humor/borowitz-report/trump-strips-citizenship-from-children-of-immigrants-thus-disqualifying-himself-from-presidency?mbid=nl_Borowitz+103018&CNDID=50375792&utm_source=nl&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Borowitz+103018&utm_content&utm_brand=tny&utm_mailing=Borowitz+103018&hasha=af0715d04b0a345cd13a98039d04cfd3&hashb=bfd163cd5c8091ec6b0eb39c362b9a5659ea08aa&spMailingID=14527121&spUserID=MjA2NjYyNDQ1ODMxS0&spJobID=1502341013&spReportId=MTUwMjM0MTAxMwS2

Hell Or High Water

Hell Or High Water Having survived the wrath and floodwaters of Florence, the skipper has decided we will combine the first shakedown cruise with the first race of the Frostbite Series. The boat, a one off IOR design by Britton Chance, has not yet been dunked in the water since delivery on a flatbed, in pieces. On account of there not being enough water in the river at the boatyard for her considerable keel. We will not be taking any shortcuts over Hampton Shoal. The boat is named Anathema, more because of the crew than the boat, I suppose, but names are funny things. It's a cold and rainy blow today, supposed to moderate some tomorrow. Predicted wind speeds about 11 kts. I reckon we'll find out how much she heels, and what parts got left off, didn't get properly tightened, or never worked right to begin with. Adventures! Not much danger of explosions. Except maybe of expletives. Wish us luck! https://www.cnn.com/2012/11/21/sport/crash-test-boat-yachting-monthly-you...

I don't think this is wise, or particularly significant. Some points to consider. We have time. There are ten months to final sunset. Some services (data take out, static site) may be active beyond August 2019. Google have not yet made this clear, and should. I am asking them about this, you should too There are many alternatives. "All You Got To Do Is..."

"All You Got To Do Is..." Internet Identity can be difficult, as both a content creator, and content absorber/commenter upon. It can be hard to figure out someone's bonafides (which is often a combination of what do they know/what have they done/who is paying them how much). That's hard enough in Real Life™, I know, but it seems worse on the Full Of Stock Photos of Glamorous People Internets, where every gooey pancake can be a Star. In general, visible work means effort and commitment, with caveats about the unnaturalness of high production values. Commenters have things the easiest, and are therefore the most suspect. But I've seen some dab hands artfully puncture some remarkably self congratulatory eejits. Commenters aren't always trolls. It's just the default setting. The Whichness Of The Why

The Whichness Of The Why From E.E. Doc Smith's Second Stage Lensman: Worsel the Velantian arrowed downward through the atmosphere toward a certain flat roof. Leather wings shot out with a snap and in a blast of wind— Velantians can stand eleven Tellurian gravities—he came in his customary appalling landing and dived unconcernedly down a nearby shaft. Into a corridor, along which he wriggled blithely to the office of his old friend, Master Technician Laverne Thorndyke. "Verne, I have been thinking," he announced, as he coiled all but about six feet of his sinuous length into a tight spiral upon the rug and thrust out half a dozen weirdly stalked eyes. "That's nothing new," Thorndyke countered. No human mind can sympathize with or even remotely understand the Velantian passion for solid weeks of intense, uninterrupted concentration upon a single thought. "What about this time? The whichness of the why?" "That is the trouble with you Tellurians,...

A Book Of One’s Own “Why do we wish to be remembered, even when none remain who looked upon our face? Surely, though it must retain an element of self-consideration, it is a last acknowledgement that we need to be loved; and, having gone from all touch, we trust that memory, may, as it were, keep our unseen presence with the borders of day.” William Soutar “… the life of every man is a diary in which he means to write one story, and writes another; and his humblest hour is when he comparies the volume as it is with what he vowed to make it.” J.M. Barrie “It would have been a very enjoyable ride altogether, that evening’s spin along the banks of the Rhine, if I had not been haunted at the time by the idea that I should have to write an account of it next day in my diary. As it was, I enjoyed it as a man enjoys dinner when he has got to make a speech after it, or as a critic enjoys a play.” Jerome K. Jerome Some of my favorite books are about books.
