So she decided to figure it out. Dr Rasmussen, who’s tied for third for the most bird discoveries in the world, is probably also the world’s foremost avian sleuth, due to her meticulous detective work a few years ago that uncovered the many ornithological thefts and records frauds in museums that were committed by eminent British ornithologist, Richard Meinertzhagen. But who would ever have thought that an old Christmas carol might also hold an avian mystery? “After all, it’s just a Christmas carol!” Dr Rasmussen points out." https://medium.com/@GrrlScientist/meet-the-real-birds-of-the-twelve-days-of-christmas-fame-grrlscientist-5a8bc09350c9
The biggest problem here (CA) is that the promise from advocates that legalization wouldn’t create new users, but would just service existing users proved true. Unfortunately, those existing users already had suppliers that can sell cheaper and more conveniently than any of the new legit retailers. ReplyDeleteProhibition of nearly anything (even more universally agreed upon ones, like Murder, Assault, Theft) are hard to manage. It gets weirder and worse when we attempt to Prohibit things with an associated Pleasure Factor (Drugs, Sex, Rock and Roll).
ReplyDeleteThe industry in WA has taken off. The experience is like going to a liquor store. Though shops don't need local pre-approval so maybe that's a big difference.
ReplyDeleteI chuckled to read about the folks clutching pearls at living next to a pot farm. They should become acquainted with hogs.
ReplyDeleteDrew McCarthy Here in Oregon, as well as in Northern California, a lot of those people were already living next to pot farms - they just didn't know it, and the state didn't get a cut of the revenue.
ReplyDeleteThe Colorado law was about funding underfunded programs schools with the money.
ReplyDeleteEverybody else's is about trying to make some people wealthy. I think that night be part of "why".
