  1. HI seems to be the same as the south. Funeral meals, especially the Japanese buffet ones, are a part of the event. The food is tasty and necessary because it allows people to talk about the recently deceased, but it's more about getting together with close and not so close friends in addition to family if it's family. These days, it's the only time I get to see old work buddies and catch up. The food is a large part of it. There always seems to be more than enough too. Some funerals even have pastry and coffee to eat and drink before the funeral gets started.

  2. What's the point of dying if it doesn't bring your loved ones together for a meal and reminiscences?
