Flotsam

Flotsam

Some aerial views of our boat yard on the Trent River.

I'd recognize that derelict looking cantankerous travel lift anywhere.

The boat with the black mast and gray foredeck hatch is ours.

Speaking of pool coverage, some remarks by Our Glorious Leader, who is obviously as unfamiliar with the rules for marine salvage as he is of every other rule of law:

  1. After every hurricane I am disgusted by the millions of dollars wasted, and the resultant pollution, by boat owners not preparing for the storm. I have no "empathy" for the owners, who should be liable for civil penalties, and possible criminal penalties. A little planning and/or a little expenditure (from people who can afford these toys) would prevent much of this waste. If one wants a glimpse of a disposable society, this is it.

Anyway, glad to see the pirate boat seems O.K. -

  2. Yes. We were discussing this. The marinas near downtown New Bern used to be emptied in preparation for storms like this. They were not, this time, and the results were as you might expect. Some of the marinas have changed ownership, and might have changed policies, but... that doesn't explain why the owners would not have acted independently.

  3. Some people are happy with increased marine insurance rates, I guess, Drew McCarthy . But for true sailors, it is like looking across a battlefield of defeat. Or do I mean defleet? : /
