The evolution also proved once again that all needed parts will, at the most inconvenient time, go away to the deepest, darkest, most inaccessible part of the bilge. Even the parts associated with the standing rigging, laying on bucks outside the boat.

    I recommend oil of hashish on the chain plates to reduce stress. Or do I mean on the captain? (Is it possible to enlarge the backing plate?)

    Heh. Lots of Rotella and PB Blaster on board. Might have to requisition the other.
    Aluminium (corroded) backing plates are being entirely replaced, with larger SS ones. Not sure why they didn't do that to begin with. Some deck repair, also.
