Pockets

Pockets

I'm partial to Carhartt Carpenter Bib Overalls with the integral apron.

By which you can tell that I'm fully in favor of functional pockets. To the point where it can sometimes take a minute or two to ransack all of them in search of that One Fiddly Bit of hardware.

Fashion might be a tool of the patriarchy.

  1. I guess as an ex-academic, she had no place to put her pocket protector, and as a former stripper, she had no place to stash the bills in a G-string. When one becomes a slave to fashion, one shouldn't be surprised to be offered manacles and a collar. I'm not buying it.

  2. Well, I was sad when they quit making Carhartts in America, with union labor. The outsourced ones just aren't as good. But nobody asked my opinion about that, either.

  3. Thanks to my iPad, I pay a “pink tax” by way of a messenger bag. That still doesn’t eliminate my need for 4 decent sized pockets in every pair of pants I own.

  4. Yeah, there aren't many days when I'm able to be fully productive with just what is in my pockets. The progression runs from messenger bags to rucks and duffels, all the way up to road cases and trucks. Only the Timbuk2 bags have any pretense to fashion, and they're old enough to be vintage (pre Y2K).
I'm grateful not to have to wear fully loaded rigger's harness and/or framer's toolbelt much, anymore.

  5. Bring back the apron as a fashion statement! Attach any pockets desired! Added bonus: keeps clothes cleaner.
