The Retro-Cade, a device which legally licensed and resold games from developers like Capcom, uses emulation software RetroArch, designed to run illegal ROMs. Many of the official re-released LucasArts point-and-click adventure games that ran on the SCUMM engine, now use the fan made, free ScummVM engine. Cifaldi has presented evidence that suggests that even Nintendo itself has resold ROMs that were initially illegally uploaded to the internet, though Nintendo has denied this."
