There is a lot of evil in this world, always has been. Some of it seems bigger and closer than it used to. Evil needs to be identified, confronted.

But not Feared. Because there is no Redemption through Fear.

And Redemption is the goal. Not necessarily the Redemption of Religion, either. But the Redemption of Love.

"[French Jesuit Pierre Teilhard de] Chardin said that fire was one of the greatest discoveries in all of human history. And he then went on to say that if humanity every harnesses the energy of fire again, if humanity ever captures the energy of love, it will be the second time in history that we have discovered fire."

"Dr. King was right, we must discover love. The redemptive power of love. And when we do that, we will make of this old world a new world."

    When asked by CBS how he had prepared to deliver the sermon, Most Rev. Curry said he was “just going to show up.”

    He said: “I'll never forget my daddy told me when I was fairly new as a priest. He said just always be who you really are. Don't pretend to be someone else.”
