Competency Testing

Competency Testing

Competency is High Religion in my Tribe, at least partly because Real Actual Physical Danger and Lasting Solutions to Meaningful Problems require Competency. Plus, Experting is Fun!

But Leadership, especially Good Leadership, is hard to quantify, hard to identify, especially in its nascent stages.

In some ways, I think our current struggles are about the difficulties of Managing to Scale. Our modern society is quite large, complex, and interdependent. Mucking about with sabots, either as an expert, or as an eejit, is Dangerous. However, there are consequences with the Persistence of Things As They Always Were.

Our current Eejit In Chief, on the surface, has laudable goals, making America great, draining the swamp, etc. The problem? Trying to implement those goals without competency breaks things and hurts people. The damage is compounded when your insincerity is exposed, and it becomes clear that you are trying to help your friends, and screw everybody else.
