On 5 April 1968 RAF pilot Alan Pollock performed unauthorized low flight over several London landmarks in a Hawker Hunter jet fighter, including through the span of the Tower Bridge on the Thames. The Royal Air Force was founded on 1 April 1918, and this stunt was a demonstration against the Ministry of Defense, which had failed to recognize the 50th anniversary. Pollock was arrested and discharged. A cracking centennial to ya, RAF.
