Mr. Blue

Mr. Blue

I enjoyed various parts of PHC over the years, but I won't miss it as much as The Writer's Almanac.

I enjoyed the Mr. Blue agony columns he used to write. It showed a more realistic, messier side to the man.

Anybody remember H.L. Mencken, the Sage of Baltimore? He hated a lot of things, including women, until he married one.

He wrote this epitaph in jest:

"If, after I depart this vale, you ever remember me and have thought to please my ghost, forgive some sinner and wink your eye at some homely girl."

After Keillor gets his comeuppance for whatever bad thing he did, maybe he'll straighten up and do better.

I'm all for giving bad behavior just desserts. But it's best to leave some room for corrective behavior and the possibility of redemption.

But of course I'd say that, wouldn't I?
