Take Note

Another concession to the tyranny of Shinier, Tinier, New Things.

Besides showing signs of many decades of (ab)use, it was getting harder and harder to get plain paper rolls of the correct size for Ye Olde Kitchen Grocery List Maker .

So we broke down and got a Thoroughly Modern Upgrade. Branded with German Purity, which is a bit Ick, but Made in China, so properly Mongrelized.

We'll see if I can adjust.

  1. Uh huh. And among other things, it takes two hands to operate.

  4. Drew McCarthy I haven't bought a pencil since I stopped teaching 10 years ago. I still have a box of naked Ticonderogas that I dip into about once a year.

  5. Drew McCarthy, for one-handed operation on a smartphone you can just say "Add romaine lettuce to my groceries list" and it does the hard work. "Show me my groceries list" works too. Grocery lists are the main thing I use Siri for!

(I didn't stop using paper lists for the cost of pencils, but for always running out of paper. If I'd had a snazzy dispenser like yours, things might have been different...)

  6. Siri might not approve of my diction.
