I had, and still use, a Remix Mini as media box. It was pretty good, considering how cheap it was. But they never got around to ironing out the the most serious bugs and inadequacies. Some of those problems were blamed on lack of support from Allwinner, but... The newer IO/IO+ seemed to offer promise, but like a lot of Kickstarters these days, has failed.

It's hard to tell if it is really so hard to do some of this stuff, or whether folks just won't bother if they aren't going to make boatloads of money soon enough. Maybe a combination of both.

Time to start looking for a replacement media box, I reckon.
