    Another factor in the mythology around Trump is that some Clinton supporters built her up as a figure of nothing less than superhuman virtue, and were certain she would win by a historic margin. When that didn't happen the explanation had to be truly extraordinary. So you get Machiavellian Trump who always knows what he's doing, and disciplined Russian asset Trump who can be counted on to follow orders. Those are easier for some folks to accept emotionally than the idea this election was losable.
