I've been seeing more and more examples of multi-story wood construction in the past five years or so.

I think part of it is due to the increased affordability of engineered wood products, as well as the (hoped for) benefits of ease of maintenance.

But wood structures only meet fire code when they are properly clad and firestopped. Some insurance carriers are requiring increased security on structures under construction, when they are most vulnerable.

Not to mention that wood structures shrink and settle, over time, and it isn't certain that these structures are being designed and built to acknowledge that.
