No fireplace is as efficient as a stove, ever. Our fireplace is a Rumford variant, not quite as tall, but nicely angled and sloped, always draws very well. Puts a lot of heat out. There are still some good masons around here that know the art of a fireplace.

Means more if it gets cold, or you cook in it. But yeah, fire is primal.

ReplyDeleteDon't do masonry, much. More a carpenter than anything else. But I've worked on a fair number of historic houses.
