(Or to install some silly bit of nostalgia like the floppy drive from my very first computer that's made it through every PC I ever built/owned, just because there was a spare bay and why not?...)
LOL, true. Building a PC isn't all that hard. Setting it up with a new OS ... can be a trial. Especially if you have idiosynchratic file management preferences that don't match Microsoft's expectations.
Disclaimer: I do realize "PC" is not necessarily synonymous with "Microsoft," but while I may be nerdy, I am not nerdy enough to venture into DIY operating systems.

Well, they're much easier to set up and troubleshoot, and they generally have pretty high quality components.
