The Root Beer Man

"Satch" Paige was a fixture on RAGBRAI for several decades, driving a brown, beat up Chevrolet Step Van emblazoned with Iowa Double Dog and Draft Root Beer on the side.

Sadly, he passed away a couple of years ago.

I never had an Iowa Double Dog. I had more than a few Draft Root Beers. Might have been the magic of RAGBRAI (heat, hail, pestilence, and amusing but frequently bad behavior) but it was the best Root Beer ever. Bar none.
