"comfortably dead"

A dead woman, drowned over a century ago, haunts us still . . . .

I knew the connection with Annie - I've kissed her many times as a CPR instructor. The admiration of Albert Camus and Man Ray were a surprise.

  1. while at work in the 80's in a cavernous "office" in the Training Division's storeroom, I was surrounded by boxes containing Resusci-Annies CPR dolls. One of them was open and I was struck by the creepiness of her. I wrote a short story in which she comes alive because of all the thousands of earnest life-saving breaths breathed into it. and I secreted it in one of the boxes. About 4 months later, the story was found and became celebrated around the division as a slightly horrific tragedy story. She had no brains, eyes, and was only 1/2 of a body, also with no arms.
