Of course, nobody can really agree on what root beer tastes like.

I was probably first exposed to the stuff in an A&W diner somewhere, and I was an instant fan.

I still drink it, even though they've outlawed the key ingredients in my lifetime. Unfortunately, the waning popularity of traditional drive ins is unlikely to spur a re-examination of the clinical evidence at this point, and I'm too lazy to make my own. Yet.

    Drew McCarthy  It tastes nothing like A&W - there is a similar beer called Best Damn Root Beer, which is sweeter and closer to soda pop taste. Both have the grain flavor of an ale.
