Timothy Street My grandfather (like hundreds of thousands of Americans) was a contractor for NASA in the Sixties and whenever I asked him how astronauts went to the bathroom he'd say "They don't". I thought this was just his little joke but after talking to other people, I found that almost everybody in a position to know made that joke. There was obviously some specific protocol in NASA about avoiding discussion of rubber bags of any sort.
