The Thing That Will Not Go Away

The Thing That Will Not Go Away

"The thing that will not go away," McPhee tells his students, when asked about the future of reading and writing, "is books. Everything I'm doing is rooted in the idea that there are no two writers alike; no one will write the way you do. You are dealing with yourself. The voice you are fighting to develop is your own."

Like Bolie, I'm trying hard to believe, but I've seen too many good bookstores close in the last decade. It's hard.

  1. Bookstores are not books. They are outmoded distribution methods

  2. Yes to Tim Ebl Although it's true that books sales are not growing, there's a very logical reason why that need not mean anything.

Also, I think we need to stop conflating reading with reading books.
