    they're eating western foods and growing while western foods are now making us short. It's nutrition & whether or not you're starving. When Capt. Cooke landed here in 1778, the Hawaiians were gigantic. They're still tall today, but they've had to intermix because the population was decimated and almost disappeared due to lack of immunity to western diseases, so not as tall as back then.

    Taller, bigger, and stronger is not necessarily better, and I'm saying that as a 5' 10" (1.78 m) woman. This article is reporting average height among populations as if it were some kind of race.
