The waters of the Iroise are located in the Eastern Atlantic Ocean off the west coast of Brittany, France - an infamous area for sailors. Those familiar with the Hornblower novels of C.S. Forester will recognize the setting of Hornblower and the Hotspur , in which the writing excelled with descriptions of ship handling, navigation, and seamanship. This short of the lighthouses of the Iroise enduring storms reiterates the danger of taking to the sea.
