The tortuous "It's a Small World" attraction opened in Fantasyland at Disneyland on May 28, 1966. The river upon which the park guests are transported past over 500 singing dolls is 1,400 feet long. The song heard in the attraction (for almost 15 long minutes) was written by Robert and Richard Sherman, who as a result, have since been commissioned to write an original soundtrack for the ninth circle of Hell.
