Only upside? Many more (disgruntled, badly behaving) employees.

Should be noted that, AFAIK, none of the haters of Big Government have anything bad to say about the TSA. Fear sells.

Purely on pragmatic grounds, the TSA is a failure. This doesn't even get into all the cases of TSA employees abusing innocent travelers.
