And of course, San Francisco taught me the value of Anchor Steam.

  1. Genesee was the local beer when I was a little kid and it was served everywhere, so when I drink it now I feel two powerful but contradictory impulses: a sense of returning to my childhood roots, and a feeling of You're drinking a BEER? You're gonna get in trouble! I'm telling on you!

  2. Unfortunately, almost all of the Best Things In Life were regarded as transgressive at one time or another, and all too many of the Things You're Supposed To Do have turned out to have relatively little lasting joy or value.
    On the whole, I'm relatively happy to have paid so little attention to certain things in life.
