Termagant

Termagant

I always thought it was some kind of screechy, disreputable bird...

Also, funny how Billingsgate became associated with bad language, but Fulton never did.  Some missed alliterative potential, there...

My vacation reading is several books concerning Paris during the French Revolution. The appellation of the term "fishwife" to describe any loud, filthy, uneducated, vulgar, bloodthirsty woman is omnipresent in works both fiction and non-fiction. Historians of quite recent vintage use the term to collectively describe the crowds at public executions. As a student (and former teacher) of History, I wish to apologize to fish mongeresses everywhere.
