One of the cosmic injustices on our solar system this century is the gross negligence and insult inflicted upon the planet Pluto. The recent expedition of NASA's New Horizons probe demonstrated irrefutable evidence that Pluto is indeed the ninth planet - to the great consternation of embarrassed scientists that have now recently "claimed" to have configured another planet beyond Pluto. Unsurprisingly, another miasmic gas giant. I suppose they will propose "Trump" as the name of the newly discovered far out orbiter - or if the want to stay with the dog and Disney motif, use the synonymous, "Goofy".
I acknowledge that Pluto is nearly unapproachable: diminutive, misshapen, circling the sun to the beat of a different drummer, its moons (note:plural) not all adhering to expected behavior; but why the "scientific" misunderstanding, intolerance, suspicion, and derisiveness? We have metaphorically relegated Pluto to the status of Tyrion Lannister in The Game of Thrones - and imagine how much poorer that series would be without his extraordinarily interesting character!
Is our understanding of the cosmos to be held hostage by an oligarchy of prima donna academics, whose sole and soulless motive in life is to seek an unholy grail of obscure publication, to the ignorance of validity? Responsible studies have shown that for the past five-ten-fifteen years, over half of the articles presented in peer reviewed journals are wrong - evidenced by the inability to have research duplicated, or by consequential discoveries.
Epistemology is the study of the origin, nature, methods, and limits of knowledge. Empirical knowledge is information gathered through experience or by our senses. Science is merely a means of organizing and formally testing what we perceive to be the truth.
I am not a scientist. I may claim to be a naturalist. (note: not the same as nudist)
However, I admit during my Halcyon days I knew my way around a slide rule, and was a great believer of scientific thought, process, and achievement - especially in chemistry and the biological sciences. (note: may or may not mean experimenting with drugs) My old classmate, T.W. Cook , will hopefully back this claim, provided he is sober enough to type a comment. Tom - who excelled in physics and mathematics - is the person who famously attempted to T.P. downtown Little Rock from the 13th floor of the Omni Hotel while attending the annual Arkansas Science & Humanities Symposium in the early 70's. This was about the time that Christo began his artistic geo-visual antics - and I have always been struck by the similar twin occurrences; much like Darwin and Wallace. But I digress . . . .
The time has arrived to realize actual science in the natural order of rational thought within the realm of human philosophy. Acknowledgement that #Plutoisaplanet is the kingstone upon which we can break the "science of shackled knowledge", and move forward with the conception of open minded discovery as the best means of advancing the human condition and yielding positive results to human understanding. For too long we have permitted the sciences to resort to the manipulation, negation, and rejection of what is possible - yea, what is probable.
Pluto, as with this "Trump" or "Goofy", was predicted decades before the actual discovery. Pluto has more moons than some larger planets. Pluto is not a homogenous mass; planetary processes are evolving as we debate. Pluto has an atmosphere. PLUTO IS A PLANET!
{ To the deluded scientists who yet maintain that Pluto is not a planet, I have one comment to append: You can bend over and kiss Uranus. It shouldn't be that difficult; as yourheads minds are already in the posture to moon yourselves. }
