On this day when many tables of the world are filled with bounty, we remember the sparkle in the eyes of 7-year-old Eunice a few months ago as she savored a plate of spaghetti. Eunice had told us her greatest birthday wish was to eat "colored pancit." (After an hour of questioning we found out that she meant spaghetti.)

Eunice lives in Barangay Garawon, Hernani, Eastern Samar, Philippines, facing the Pacific Ocean. Her home was among those washed out by Typhoon Haiyan in 2013.

Her father is a recipient of NVC's Peter Project which provided him with a motorized fishing boat to replace the one he lost to the super typhoon. Her mother is a beneficiary of our Project Joseph which has given her cooking utensils and a stove so she can augment the family income.
